For the last few decades, I have been visiting bed-and-breakfasts all over Florida and the Southeast. Nearly every experience has been enjoyable and each one has been unique — the cluster of historic buildings in downtown Orlando, the “Gone with the Wind” mansion in tiny Micanopy, the beachfront home on Anna Maria Island. Now, I have decided it would be fun to share my knowledge of Florida’s B&Bs and (hopefully) inspire some travelers to give up their sterile, cookie-cutter hotels for warmth and individuality.
Plus, this blog will give me an excuse to check out more of my home state’s historic inns. I plan to provide objective reviews of special accommodations in every region, from the Panhandle to the Keys, along with a calendar of festivals and other goings-on, all designed to encourage B&B travel.
Unlike some reviewers, I will pay my own way at B&Bs. In fact, to avoid any special treatment, I won’t reveal that I am writing a review.
With so many great places to choose from, the tough part will be deciding where to go. I welcome any recommendations.
This is my first blog, so I am eager to hear any constructive feedback.
