Welcome to Historic Florida Inns and B&Bs. I appreciate your interest and hope you’ll share my posts with your family and friends. On this blog, I write about my personal experiences at historic bed-and-breakfasts across the state. Unlike some reviewers, I accept no compensation of any kind from the innkeepers. I even hide the fact that I’m writing a review to ensure that my experience at each inn is identical to that of other guests.
My goal for this blog is twofold: to lure B&B fans to as-yet-undiscovered properties and to encourage other travelers to give up cookie-cutter hotels and motels for lodgings that offer a much more memorable getaway.
I have been visiting bed-and-breakfasts, in Florida and throughout the Southeast, for 30 years. I consider myself a native Floridian: My family moved to the state from Alabama when I was a toddler, I grew up outside Tampa and since 1988 I have made my home in Sarasota, just south of Tampa.
I earned a bachelor’s in journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and have worked as a journalist for newspapers, magazines and websites for the past 30 years. I also have experience working in the Florida travel industry.
Please contact me with any suggestions or comments about the blog, or any news related to historic bed-and-breakfasts and inns in Florida. I welcome your input. My email address is Julie@HistoricFloridaInns.com.
